Our Snowy Owls completed their second week and have shown remarkable enthusiasm and progress in modeling our Snowy Owl Expectations of being Safe, Respectful, Responsible, and Kind. It was great to see all of our Sotomayor families at our Back to School Night this past week. For those families that weren’t able to join us, please see the slide deck below that was reviewed during our Principal Welcome.
We look forward to working alongside our families to make this a wonderful year for our Snowy Owls! As we move into August, our classroom teachers will be sharing out student leadership opportunities, like Safety Patrol, Student Council, and Peace Patrol. Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you for your continued support!
Snowy Owl Expectation Focus
Our goal at Sonia Sotomayor Elementary School is to create and maintain a positive and safe learning environment for all and hold students accountable for being positive forces within our school community. The Snowy Owl Expectations are taught, modeled, and practiced throughout all grade levels and locations around campus. This week we will continue to focus and reinforce the expected behaviors for recess. We appreciate your support in asking your Snowy Owls at home what specific behaviors allow them to be safe, respectful, responsible, and kind during recess.

Morning Parent Egress
We have been encountering some congestion in the indoor amphitheater as classes make their way to their classrooms and parents attempt to exit our school at the start of the school day. To prevent congestion in the main office and ensure all students make it to class safely, we will be directing all parents to exit through our Multipurpose Room starting on Monday, August 5th. We appreciate all of your cooperation and support in ensuring and maximizing the safety of our students.

Home Access Center

The Chula Vista Elementary School District utilizes the Home Access Center (HAC) to share Student Score Reports for the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) and English Learner Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) with parents and guardians. The HAC allows parents and guardians to securely review, download, and save student results quickly and conveniently. Last week an email was sent out by our superintendent sharing important information on accessing your child’s 2022-24 state testing reports in HAC. The letter is available for review, as well as instructions on how to login to the Home Access Center.
