There will be no school on Monday, November 11th, 2024 in honor of Veterans Day. Thank you to all our Military Veterans and their families for their service!

We are excited to announce our upcoming celebration of kindness, in collaboration with the Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD), as we join together to promote kindness in our school community! With the official International Day of Kindness on November 13, 2024, we have a variety of activities planned to encourage our students to show kindness, empathy, and respect to one another.

Native American History Month

Native American History Month is observed in November every year where the focus is on celebrating the culture, traditions, and achievements of Native Americans. Let’s celebrate and learn more about the vibrant history and traditions that enrich our community.

Snowy Owl Expectation Focus

Our goal at Sonia Sotomayor Elementary School is to create and maintain a positive and safe learning environment for all and hold students accountable for being positive forces within our school community. The Snowy Owl Expectations are taught, modeled, and practiced throughout all grade levels and locations around campus. For the next two weeks, we will focus and reinforce the expected behaviors for the office. We appreciate your support in asking your Snowy Owls at home what specific behaviors allow them to be safe, respectful, responsible, and kind when coming to our front office.

APEX in Review

The numbers are in for our Apex Fun Run. Thank you all again for your efforts this year! We look forward to providing an exceptional year for our Snowy Owls with the earnings, sponsored by our wonderful PTA.

Grade Level Spotlight

First grade learned about and participated in the democratic process of elections. The race was a close one between Grace and Duck for President. After registering, careful consideration, and campaigning, students went to the polls. All first graders gathered to tally the ballots and it was Grace by 2 votes!
