🍬 Week of Gratitude (Dec. 16–20)

Join us in thanking the amazing faculty and staff who’ve worked tirelessly to open our new school and support our students. Here’s how we can show our appreciation:

  • Monday – Sweet Start: Bring a teacher or administrator their favorite candy or treat.
  • Thank You Tuesday: Celebrate our amazing staff–secretaries, custodians, cafeteria team, noon-duty supervisors, LEAD, and YMCA! Our school does not run without their hard work 🙂 You can share a letter or card, draw a picture, offer a sweet treat, or surprise them with something special!
  • Wish List Wednesday: Purchase an item from your teacher’s Book Fair or classroom wishlist.
  • Thoughtful Thursday: Share a letter or card expressing your gratitude.
  • Festive Friday: Give an open-ended gift of your choice. PTA will be providing lunch for the faculty and staff.

We’re collecting “favorite things” lists from the staff and will share them next week to help with ideas.

Snowy Owl Expectation Focus

Our goal at Sonia Sotomayor Elementary School is to create and maintain a positive and safe learning environment for all and hold students accountable for being positive forces within our school community. The Snowy Owl Expectations are taught, modeled, and practiced throughout all grade levels and locations around campus. For the next week, we will continue to focus and reinforce the expected behaviors for dismissal. We appreciate your support in asking your Snowy Owls at home what specific behaviors allow them to be safe, respectful, responsible, and kind at dismissal.

LEAD Spotlight

This week, our talented group of 1st through 6th grade students embraced the holiday season with a fun and colorful hands-on project. Using their fingers as paintbrushes, they created beautiful snowflakes and festive Christmas trees. The children embraced the messiness of finger painting, experimenting with different techniques to make each snowflake unique. Stay tuned for more exciting projects as we continue to celebrate creativity throughout the season!

Quarter 3 LEAD Registration
