What a fantastic year it has been—filled with unforgettable moments and the joy of growing and learning together. As we head into summer break, we hope you enjoy a well-deserved time of rest and fun! A special congratulations to our amazing 6th grade Snowy Owls and their families as they take the exciting next step into middle school. We’re so proud of you and will miss you dearly!
Looking ahead, school resumes for the 2025–2026 academic year on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. Please note that our front office will close for summer break starting June 18th.

20 Year Time Capsule Burial Ceremony
We are excited to share a special moment in our school’s history — the Time Capsule Burial Ceremony! 📦✨
On Wednesday, June 4th, students, staff, and families came together to preserve memories, messages, and mementos that reflect who we are today. This time capsule will be unearthed in 2045, offering future generations a glimpse into our present. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this memorable event. 6th Grade Promotion Livestream
On Friday, June 6th, we celebrated a very special milestone—our amazing 6th graders being promoted! This is a moment of pride, reflection, and joy as we honor the hard work, growth, and achievements of our students. Over the past year, they’ve learned, laughed, and led with courage, kindness, and determination.
To our 6th graders: You’ve made us so proud. You are ready for the next big adventure—middle school! Keep believing in yourself, stay curious, and never stop striving to be your best.
To our families and staff: Thank you for your support, guidance, and love. This moment is as much yours as it is our students’.

Continuing Enrollment
Verification of Residency started on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, emails were sent from PowerSchool for each student. Emails were sent to the first (primary) email that we have on file. Please check all your inboxes including junk mail. This is for current students that are returning next school year. The enrollment deadline was June 6th. You must complete the continuing enrollment to secure a spot at Sonia Sotomayor Elementary for the 2025-26 school year.
Medication in the Health Office
If your child has medication stored in the health office, please stop by our front office this week between 7:45 AM – 3:45PM to pick-up the medications.
Lost and Found Items
We still have many items in the Lost and Found. We will leave them out in front of our main office through Friday. After Friday, the items will be donated, if you drive by the school stop by to see if any of the items belong to your child.

Summer Reading Programs!
It has been a fantastic year of reading for our students this year. Don’t forget to continue to read over the summer vacation with your child. There are many opportunities to celebrate literacy and exercise the brain through reading. Check out a few opportunities below. Our iReady, Razz Kids, and Achieve 3000 programs are still available over the summer.
