November is a month for reflection and appreciation. There are so many things to be grateful for as we approach Thanksgiving week. I wanted to take a moment and share how THANKFUL I am for having the pleasure to lead such a caring and wonderful school community as Sonia Sotomayor Elementary. Prior to departing on Thanksgiving Break, I want to provide you with some information of upcoming events and resources.
- Thanksgiving Break is scheduled from Monday, November 24th – Friday, November 28th. Students will resume on Monday, December 1st and will have a regular school day with dismissal at 2:15PM for TK/K students and 2:30 PM for 1st-6th grade students.

Campus Access and Security

Families, please check your email for an important update regarding the new District Board Policy 3515.1, passed last week. We will continue to share information on how this policy will impact Sotomayor, including campus access and safety. Thank you for staying informed!
Federal Survey Cards
Federal survey cards were sent home last week. We ask ALL parents to complete and return them as soon as possible. These forms are essential for certain funding, regardless of federal employment status. Thank you for your prompt attention!

Snowy Owl Expectation Focus
Our goal at Sonia Sotomayor Elementary School is to create and maintain a positive and safe learning environment for all and hold students accountable for being positive forces within our school community. The Snowy Owl Expectations are taught, modeled, and practiced throughout all grade levels and locations around campus. For the next week, we will continue to focus and reinforce the expected behaviors for the office. We appreciate your support in asking your Snowy Owls at home what specific behaviors allow them to be safe, respectful, responsible, and kind when coming to our front office.

Punctuality Counts!
Every minute counts! Being just 5 minutes late each day can add up and impact your child’s learning and progress. Please remind your children about the importance of arriving on time. Students should be lined up on the grass field by 7:55 AM, with classes starting promptly at 8:00 AM. Check out how those 5 minutes really add up over time!.
