Safe Campus Policy

Starting on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, parents, guardians, and all visitors will be required to check-in through our Raptor system and acquire a school badge if coming onto campus for drop-off purposes or prescheduled event/meeting.

At the November Board of Education meeting, the Board adopted Board Policy 3515.1 Campus Access and Safety to enhance safety practices district-wide. Following feedback from families and staff, the district identified the need for additional clarity. As a result, at the December Board of Education meeting, the Board approved a revision to Board Policy 3515.1 to better define school access procedures. The revised policy outlines how parents and guardians may check in through the district’s visitor management system, Raptor, to accompany their child to a designated morning drop-off area. Parents and guardians must proceed directly to and from these designated areas and exit the campus by the first bell. While on campus, all visitors are expected to follow site-specific safety procedures and comply with staff directions. Parents and guardians must sign out of Raptor by turning in their badges to the front office upon leaving campus.

If you have any questions or need additional assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Our school office will reopen on Monday, January 12th from 7:15 AM until 3:45 PM. Thank you for your ongoing support, and we look forward to seeing everyone back on campus soon.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, there will be no school on Monday, January 19th. We hope you take a moment to reflect on the spirit and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. and his work towards equality and justice for all.

Snowy Owl Expectation Focus

Our goal at Sonia Sotomayor Elementary School is to create and maintain a positive and safe learning environment for all and hold students accountable for being positive forces within our school community. The Snowy Owl Expectations are taught, modeled, and practiced throughout all grade levels and locations around campus. For the next two weeks, we will focus and reinforce the expected behaviors for recess. We appreciate your support in asking your Snowy Owls at home what specific behaviors allow them to be safe, respectful, responsible, and kind at recess.
