This page will continue to be updated to reflect Sonia Sotomayor’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
Vision
At Sotomayor, we strive to provide meaningful student-centered learning experiences. Students will become life-long learners through collaboration and innovation rooted in the values of inclusivity, diversity, and equity.
Mission
Our school’s Mission will be shared here soon.
Core Values and Expectations
Our Snowy Owl Values will be the common language and character strengths we will use to teach and empower all students to work toward their highest personal and academic potential.
We will focus and highlight FUERZA character strengths bimonthly through morning announcements and recognize students for displaying these character strengths through our monthly student award assemblies.
Our goal at Sonia Sotomayor Elementary School is to create and maintain a positive and safe learning environment for all and hold students accountable for being positive forces within our school community. We are committed to investing classroom time every day toward the social-emotional development of all students. Below are the four school-wide expectations that shape the culture of our school:

The Snowy Owl Expectations are taught, modeled, and practiced throughout all grade levels and locations around campus. Expected behavior is encouraged with positive feedback and Success Tickets. At times, there is a need for behavioral re-direction due to an incident. To promote a positive disciplinary approach, we implement Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) and Restorative Discipline Practices.
