I want to take a moment to thank our amazing PTA and parent volunteers for hosting our Scholastic Book Fair for our Sotomayor community prior to departing on winter break! I also want to share the immense gratitude felt by ALL of our Sotomayor staff for all the students and families that showed their appreciation during Week of Gratitude, including the staff hosted lunch conducted by our PTA!

Snowy Owl Expectation Focus

Our goal at Sonia Sotomayor Elementary School is to create and maintain a positive and safe learning environment for all and hold students accountable for being positive forces within our school community. The Snowy Owl Expectations are taught, modeled, and practiced throughout all grade levels and locations around campus. For the next two weeks, we will focus and reinforce the expected behaviors for recess. We appreciate your support in asking your Snowy Owls at home what specific behaviors allow them to be safe, respectful, responsible, and kind at recess.

LEAD Flag Football Champions

Congratulations to our team for finishing the playoffs as Co-Ed Division I Football League Champions! A huge shout out to all of our Snowy Owl families who came out to support our students on their journey to the championship!

LCAP

Each year, school districts are required to develop and update their Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP)—a three-year roadmap outlining goals, actions, and expenditures designed to enhance student outcomes. At CVESD, community involvement is essential to ensuring our resources align with the diverse needs of students.

As part of this process, we invite you to join us for in-person informational sessions and
participate in our annual LCAP survey. Your feedback is invaluable in shaping the future of the district. Our first session will occur on January 23, 2025, at 2:45 PM at Castle Park
Elementary. Additional sessions will be held at various times and locations over the coming months. If you cannot attend in person, I encourage you to complete the community survey online here.

Please visit our LCAP district page or contact your school site for further details.
