As we enter the last few weeks of the school year, there are many exciting events and activities that await our Snowy Owls in the days ahead. It’s hard to believe how quickly this school year has flown by, and as we prepare to bid farewell to another memorable year, there’s still plenty of excitement and learning to be had!
End of Year Testing
Last week marked an important milestone for our 3rd-6th grade students as they have completed state-wide testing and embark this week on the final stretch of local measures testing. Our end of the year assessments provide valuable insights into our students’ progress and growth throughout the year, and we have no doubt that our students will continue to showcase their knowledge and skills with confidence and determination.
Please make EVERY effort to make sure your child is at school these days. Please do not plan vacations or doctors/dentist appointments during this time. Please review the information below for important assessment dates this week. Also, encourage your child to do their best and always let them know how proud you are of them!

Snowy Owl Expectation Focus
Our goal at Sonia Sotomayor Elementary School is to create and maintain a positive and safe learning environment for all and hold students accountable for being positive forces within our school community. The Snowy Owl Expectations are taught, modeled, and practiced throughout all grade levels and locations around campus. For the next week, we will continue to focus and reinforce conflict resolution. We appreciate your support in asking your Snowy Owls at home what specific behaviors allow them to be safe, respectful, responsible, and kind when resolving conflict.
Parent Ambassador Applications Now Open for 2026–27!
We are excited to share that applications for the 2026–27 Parent Ambassador Program are now open! This valuable opportunity allows families to partner closely with school leaders to strengthen connections, increase engagement, and support our school communities.
Current Parent Ambassadors who wish to continue serving next year may apply to become Senior Parent Ambassadors. This expanded opportunity may allow some school sites to have both a Parent Ambassador and Senior Parent Ambassador working alongside the principal to further enhance family engagement efforts.
Together, Parent Ambassadors and school leaders will collaborate to create a SMART goal focused on increasing meaningful family engagement at their school site.
Please see below to view the Parent Ambassador and Senior Parent Ambassador flyers.
