As the school year quickly comes to a close, many exciting events and activities are just around the corner for our Snowy Owls. It’s amazing how fast the year has gone by, and as we get ready to wrap up another memorable chapter, there is still so much fun and learning ahead!
Please remember that there will be no school on Monday, May 25th, in observance of Memorial Day. Students and staff will return on Tuesday, May 26th for a full day of learning.

LEAD
Congratulations to our LEAD Basketball Team A for winning their playoff game on Friday, May 22nd!
Their semi-final game will be this Tuesday, May 26th at 6:30 pm at the Loma Verde Community Center if anyone would like to come support in cheering on our Snowy Owls!
Continuous Enrollment

Many parents have been inquiring about residency verification for the upcoming 2026-27 school year, the time has finally arrived!
This week, starting on Tuesday, May 26th enrollment for continuing students will launch. You should receive an email from DoNotReply@cvesd.org. Check your inbox, spam, and junk email folders for the email. Each email will have your child’s unique snap code. This must be completed for students to be placed on a classroom roster.
For families with multiple children enrolled in our district, expect to receive an email for each child. Please complete the form by June 5th, 2026, to secure your child’s spot for the next academic year. If your family will be moving and your student will not be returning to Sonia Sotomayor Elementary next year, please inform our front office by emailing leticia.real@cvesd.org.
Snowy Owl Expectation Focus
Our goal at Sonia Sotomayor Elementary School is to create and maintain a positive and safe learning environment for all and hold students accountable for being positive forces within our school community. The Snowy Owl Expectations are taught, modeled, and practiced throughout all grade levels and locations around campus. For the next week, we will continue to focus and reinforce conflict resolution. We appreciate your support in asking your Snowy Owls at home what specific behaviors allow them to be safe, respectful, responsible, and kind when resolving conflict.
Last Call for Library Books
All library books were due Friday, May 22nd! Please check with your child and around your home to locate any school library books. Returning these books promptly will help us prepare our library for the next school year and ensure that all students have access to our wonderful collection.

Parent Ambassador Applications Now Open for 2026–27!
We are excited to share that applications for the 2026–27 Parent Ambassador Program are now open! This valuable opportunity allows families to partner closely with school leaders to strengthen connections, increase engagement, and support our school communities.
Current Parent Ambassadors who wish to continue serving next year may apply to become Senior Parent Ambassadors. This expanded opportunity may allow some school sites to have both a Parent Ambassador and Senior Parent Ambassador working alongside the principal to further enhance family engagement efforts.
Together, Parent Ambassadors and school leaders will collaborate to create a SMART goal focused on increasing meaningful family engagement at their school site.
Please see below to view the Parent Ambassador and Senior Parent Ambassador flyers.
